The fixed-wing option is the budget choice: the 20-minute plane flight caps the load at seven passengers and guarantees every seat a window. Its listing does not publish a route, so if Kata Tjuta from the air matters to you, choose a flight that names it, such as PHS's 25-minute helicopter run.

What Each Slot Looks Like

Fly Uluru lists sunrise and sunset options on both the Uluru and Kata Tjuta Scenic Flight and the Lizard Safari. After a sunset flight, the blog Explore Shaw reported the rock glowing orange-red with its shadow climbing the face in a straight line, and Kata Tjuta looking bigger from above than from the ground. Kings Canyon is a Separate Leg

Kings Canyon is the furthest leg. PHS's 120-minute One with the Lot is the route that reaches it, and Northern Territory tourism lists Kings Creek Station as a departure point for Kings Canyon scenic flights. If the canyon is your priority, the ground option is the 3-day camping safari at $712.69, which covers Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon together.

Side-on Views Only

PHS states in its FAQ that its flights do not fly directly over Uluru out of respect for its cultural significance, though the tours give clear views of it. Expect passes beside the rock rather than a straight-over shot, and plan photos as side-on compositions of the faces. On the ground the same respect applies in other ways: the climb closed permanently on 26 October 2019, and drones are prohibited in the park under the EPBC Act.
